Stance

A stance describes the writers or speakers’ attitude when presenting their thoughts. Although the audience may not always be live, the content of an individual’s work always carries some attitude that can be felt as other people read or listen to their presentation. The kind of stance one displays affects how the audience receives their piece of work and also their thoughts about the author or speaker. It is very important then to understand the target audience as their ways of thinking may shape the kind of attitude they deduce when they receive the information. A good presentation of stance will ease the process to achieve the purpose whereas any detection of a negative stance, such as disrespect will hinder the process.
